TANIS AIRCRAFT SERVICES ANNOUNCES JET A (DIESEL) ENGINE PREHEATER
Glenwood, MN: Tanis Aircraft Services announces their first engine preheater system for a “Jet A” fueled, diesel engine, the SMA SR305-230. The first installation of the “Jet A” preheater, was done by the Norwegian company, Ringerike Helikopter AS in a Cessna 182. Reported engine temperatures registered more than a 15.5ºC (60ºF) temperature rise over ambient air. An insulated engine cover was used during preheating.
The TAS100-30 preheater system includes heat for each cylinder, as well as the case and oil sump. The metric threaded cylinder elements (part no TAS109) are similar to the standard Tanis TAS100 cylinder elements that fit into the CHT well.
If an aircraft has an analyzer, Glass Cockpit or FADEC system occupying the CHT wells Tanis has several options available to heat the cylinders. The TAS108, metric threaded, ‘hot bolt’ or the new popular TAS76 heated block elements would be very effective.
The preheater’s wiring harness is double insulated. It is manufactured with high temperature, silicone insulated 18-gauge wire. It is also sleeved with rugged, high temperature, insulated silicone sleeving that “Tanis” harnesses are known for. The system is 385 watts, 3.35 amps and weights 1.05 pounds (.45 kg)
FAA-PMA approval for the TAS100-30, Jet “A” preheat system is under way and expected later this summer.
TANIS is also in the process of working with the manufacturer of the Centurion Diesel Engine for creation of a preheater system for the Diamond DA42 Twin Star Centurion 1.7 Diesel. Additional systems are in the design stage.

TANIS ANNOUNCES SUBSTANTIALLY EXTENDED PRODUCT WARRANTY
Glenwood, MN: In what it claims to be “the best warranty in the field” Tanis Aircraft Services, manufacturer of aircraft preheaters, has announced that it has extended its product warranty from one year to three years. According to the owners of Tanis, “Since our heaters have virtually an unlimited life span, there is no reason not to offer the best warranty in the business.”
Tanis preheaters, when properly installed, can last 25 years or even longer. We are one of the few companies that offers products built in the USA. Tanis feels that this translates into higher quality products because parts, assembly and employee training are directly controlled within its own PMA approved manufacturing facility.
According to the company, it is essentially formalizing a policy it has practiced for many years. If a customer returns a product for performance reasons two or three years afterpurchase, Tanis has replaced the part in cases of defective materials or workmanship. If we have failures, it is generally a result of installation issues such as improperly tying down the wiring harness and elements or improper installation of the pads.
This announcement of its extended product warranty comes at a time when Tanis boasts the most new announcements in recent history. The “Hot News for Cool Times” Tanis promotion includes news about a new cabin preheater and four new preheat systems.
Tanis Aircraft Services, founded by Peter Tanis when he invented the first aircraft internal preheat system, specializes in aircraft cold weather products. It manufactures cabin preheaters, battery preheaters, many forms of aircraft covers and other related accessories.
