COMPANY - HISTORY
Peter Tanis invented and patented a product to
solve the serious problem of starting piston
aircraft engines in cold weather. He sold his first
engine heater in 1973. He expanded
the business until his death in 2000. Under new ownership the company continues to market directly to aircraft owners as well
as through FBO'S and OEM accounts. Tanis continues
to be the leading supplier of
aircraft engine preheaters throughout the world.
To maintain its leadership position, it invests
heavily in research and development. Currently the
company holds several patents for various aviation
products. Most of our components and products are
FAA-PMA certified. We are a small firm expanding to
accommodate a growing customer base and take pride
in very high quality control on all of our
products.
We provide engine preheaters for everything
from piston engines to turbine power in both fixed
wing and helicopters as well as aircraft instrument
heaters, battery heaters, cabin heaters, insulated
engine blankets, wing covers and other accessories.
Our cabin heaters are also being used in medical
helicopters to keep medical supplies from
freezing.
Our piston engine preheaters heat the engine
with a combination of components that are strategically
placed to give a thorough preheat of the entire
engine. This minimizes the potential for damaging
cold starts and cold spots that are conducive to
moisture build up which can lead to corrosion. Our
turbine engine line of preheaters help reduce the
potential for internal damage due to high TIT's
that occur with a hot start shortening your TBO.
Tanis helicopter systems are designed to provide
heat to key engine and gearbox components. These systems also
make short response times a reality in winter as
well as summer. Tanis battery heaters help to keep
battery voltage up in cold weather for maximum
starting power.
